ICA store sales during May 2008

Preliminary figures put May combined sales for ICA retailers in Sweden at SEK 7,367 million, excluding VAT, up SEK 698 million or 10.5 percent compared to the same month last year. The increase for comparable units was 8.8 percent.

Since the beginning of the year, sales excluding VAT have risen by 8.0 percent to SEK 34,375 million. For comparable units, the increase for the same period was 6.8 percent.

Breakdown of May sales for ICA stores in Sweden:

Maxi ICA Stormarknad stores reported an increase in sales of 17.9 percent to SEK 1,889 million. The increase for comparable units was 9.7 percent. Accumulated sales have increased by 14.1 percent to SEK 8,625 million, whilst comparable units have increased by 7.4 percent.

ICA Kvantum stores reported an increase in sales of 6.2 percent to SEK 1,820 million. The increase for comparable units was 6.8 percent. Accumulated sales have increased by 5.6 percent to SEK 8,662 million, whilst comparable units have increased by 5.9 percent.

ICA Supermarket stores reported an increase in sales of 8.3 percent to SEK 2,496 million. The increase for comparable units was 9.0 percent. Accumulated sales have increased by 5.7 percent to SEK 11,697 million, whilst comparable units have increased by 6.9 percent.

ICA Nära stores reported an increase in sales of 10.7 percent to SEK 1,162 million. The increase for comparable units was 10.1 percent. Accumulated sales have increased by 7.6 percent to SEK 5,390 million, whilst comparable units have increased by 7.4 percent.
